Pisses me off!

This is what I don't get.... They say they won't release tickets till a certain day, for example Tuesday the 18th of December for Sweeney Todd. All day, it says it has yet to be released etc. Now I come online after having the computer off for one hour and all the tickets are suddenly sold out? What gives? That's not especially fair to have released them early when they're always saying NOT TILL A CERTAIN DAY!

haha
wow i'm in the same boat as you for the same exact movie. i know i am soo pissed to but i don't think they even released any. i think people just ended up getting them from other sources like contests and newspapers so now they just can't release any more cuz they've reached the limit, so they just put that they're sold out.

Yes.
They will start to lose their committed fans and marketing audiences with this behavior. It is bad business to lie.

Oh please stop complaining!!! They sent an email out, most people get email on their phones thus instantly notifying them. They went online downloaded tickets and sooner or later they run out of tickets. In most major markets there are millions of people your competing with.

Depends on where the showing is going to be.
I was at a screening in Denver for Charley Wilsons War last week. There were probably 50% of the people in line that did not get into see it. I think most of the passes were from local business. But they did have passes.

FilmMetro Movie Screening Tickets
Its True. While we would love for everyone to attend each movie screening, FilmMetro only has a limited supply of tickets for each screening.

We've built the FilmMetro system to provide a fair chance for everyone to receive tickets for movie screenings. FilmMetro tickets become available at midnight (central time) on the day they are released. In addition, sometimes there are a lot of tickets, sometimes there are only a few. Its our goal to provide a fair method to all members that allow them to claim the tickets we provide.

We also ask that our members be responsible and release any tickets if they are unable to attend. I'm sad to say that this doesnt always happen and many times the tickets are taken by other members who grab the ticket before they know if they can actually attend.

Part of attending a free screening is understanding that you may not always get tickets. In addition, just because you have tickets, doesnt guarantee you a seat. While overbooking does exist, FilmMetro does work with studio representatives to ensure the theater is full and with minimal turnaways. Sorry to hear you didnt get tickets. Hope this helps answer your question.

Thanks Film Metro for Providing Any Screenings!
Understand the folks' frustrations, but as a longtime free movie screening attendee (68+ in 2008), I realize the various sources for these screenings only receive limited passes. That's why it is always really important to sign up for ALL the available screening opportunities in your city...your local TV/radio stations, free newspapers, bookstores, all the online sites in addition to terrific Film Metro. And, FM must admit, occasionally the 12:00am CST release time comes and goes and it's 7am instead! But, folks, remember, you are in competition with the thousands of people who follow Film Metro AND the hundreds of thousands watching all the other sites which post FM's screening notices. So, many thanks to the Film Metro folks for getting these passes out to us!
