The Soloist
This movie is about what you'd expect from the ads -- a reporter and an exceptionally talented, homeless musician wind up helping each other in obvious and not so obvious ways. Both actors provide genuinely engaging characterizations and you can't help but put yourself in their relative situations: What if I wanted to help someone who didn't want the kind of help I had to offer? What if I were a homeless person whose life-long passion was out of reach due to a seemingly tortured past? This story takes us to parts of L.A. that aren't so widely known -- the parts that homeless people know about. But beyond that, this movie does deliver the goods that most people are likely to want from the movie -- two highly acclaimed actors are given a chance to fully realize their characters as they entangle in an interesting, evolving story that is sure to stick with you as you walk out the theater. Final score: one happy tonto.

Re: wheres the movies?
Unfortunately there don't appear to be a lot of new movies coming out that are in screening at the moment. For a free service we can't really complain. It looks like they just put up The Soloist, so hopefully more will be coming.
