Where the Wild Things Are - Aventura-Monday

Although I had forgotten about the book, when I saw the movie, I vaguely started remembering the book again and will definitely reread. The movie was good, though somewhat moody with a downbeat atmosphere and it seemed to become bogged down at times. But….Director Spike Jonze did make that up with some very astounding imagination, great performances and magnificent costumes. I really never got tired of looking at the characters with the realistic arms and legs and even the runny noses:). I will admit, yes, ok, I had tears in my eyes at one point. Please remember though it is rated PG13.

Actually it's PG. But it should have been PG-13 alright! The fact that kid was a little psycho with a serious A.D.D problem and for those weird looking creatures to act overly violent and cause to rip off another creatures arm was certainly not PG rating, but oh well. I thought the movie as a whole was rather lubricious, the characters didn't get to you and you didn't feel any of their emotions. Very much lifeless. I was literally crushed with this movie. Big disappointment.

I regret taking my son to watch this movie...
I liked the book and have read it and read it to my son and he loves it. The movie was ok and it should not be PG... there is too much violence and grown up issues and connections that children cannot make in the story. Very complex.. i doubt any children can follow the story and all the underlying points in it. It dragged at times and it is probably best suited for a mature audience. Not sure what age range but the real small ones will not understand and the 12 and up will be bored.. not sure honestly. I agree with both of your postings...

I have to agree with Crazy, this movie was really bad. We saw it at Dolphin Mall tonight and what a disappointment. This is not a kids movie, to much violence and at times really scary. Gyspy's is right about the acting and costumes but there was no plot at all. The movie wasn't even funny.

Even though I am not a big fan of the movie. I do feel a child can relate to the Max character and I think it may scare parents to realize that at times, thats how their kids really feel. I felt Max's emotions were very real and the scenes with his mother were the best in the film. Also, how a simple playing around with friends, can grow into someone getting hurt. That happens to all of us.

I am just glad to see everyone back and voicing your opinions.... No one has to agree or disagree. I honestly like to know what someone thinks of a movie...helps me better see it from a different prospective. Thanks guys.

wannatape....
Are you a parent??? you feel a child can relate... what age are you talking about that kids can make the connections? I guess that is the key... Anyone who appreciates this movie is in their twenties and up. It dragged too much for a child to enjoy... they only like the fighting scenes and the jumping and bouncing on trees. For a kid movie, there was too much anger... for an adult movie it was ok. Just a note for parents with little ones. This is not a kid's movie just my unimportant opinon.

I feel this movie is ok for kids 10 and up.
