one part Gump, one part English Patient, the rest is an original masterpiece of genius
Eric Roth has hit another one waaay out of the ballpark with his brilliantly *loose* adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald's original short story. David Fincher's directorial vision brings out pitch perfect performances from the entire cast. The spirit and intent of the short story have been transformed into a highly nuanced, masterpiece epic tale. This is easily the best film of the year (and that is said as much as I love Slumdog Millionaire, too). Be prepared for a nearly three hour excursion into magical realism (with spectacularly seamless character effects), where time will fly as Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt) ages in "reverse." The film is full of heart and rich with symbolism. If you somehow manage to miss this film in the theater, you will have denied yourself the cinematic gift of the year.

and I went in skeptical of everything except the cinematography...
It is important to add that I attended the advance screening solely on the basis of the astonishing cinematography as glimpsed in the television trailers. Every frame in this nearly 100% digital shoot was composed and captured as if it were a painting, with all of the warmth and subtlety of film. There will be many award nominations for this film in all categories. While there are many moments of pathos in this story, the film is ultimately inspirational and uplifting. Finally, Brad Pitt exceeded my every expectation. Not only is this his best work to date, it clearly establishes that he has developed acting chops that eclipse his long running reputation for good looks. Rather than deliver a "star turn," Pitt subtly inhabits Benjamin Button in a way that no other actor could. I can hardly believe that this is a "major studio" film. Bravo!!!

Great movie
I went to a screening. Even though the movie was long, it didn't appear to be. It held my attention through out the film. All of the main characters did a great job. I monitored the lightning strikes to keep time. Great plot, special effects and a must see. I'll take the mrs when it's released.

Beautiful but too long
Incredibly beautiful; one of the most aesthetically stirring movies I have seen all year, however in severe need of editing. Eric Roth seemed defensive of the length. It is very reminiscent of Forrest Gump in the use of telling the story as flashbacks through the protagonists voice and the southern setting, however is not quite the same level.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Butto
A well-made movie adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1920's story. The acting by everyone was so superb that one was able to suspend disbelief; and found oneself so engross in it that it does not feel like it was a three hour long movie. Brad Pitt played the part well as were all the other 'Brad Pitts's. The movie was able to elicit heart-felt emotions.

WORST MOVIE EVER!!!!!
This TRULY was the WORST movie I have EVER seeni! Three hours of mhy life I will NEVER get back! It was awful. The film-makers treat the audience like they are stupid. There are so many inconsistencies in this movie and they expect us to just over-look them. The metaphors just DON'T work! Anyone who liked this movie WAS fooled by the film-makers and the film-makers were correct about aiming it at a low IQ for those particular viewers. If your IQ is above 70, stay away from this move. Stay home and read the WONDERFUL short story instead!

Great Movie
The movie was a little long but it was a heartfelt movie that touched on life, love, and family. I would highly recommend to others. Each and everyone one of the characters on screen brought a new twist to the movie. There were a few parts that could of been left out but overall a good movie.

Curious Case of Benjamin Button
I enjoyed the movie. Someone that saw it with me said, "It’s like The Notebook meets The X-Files." We thought that it was reminiscent of Forrest Gump in its scope. There were times when it made me think, “I need to go home and see my wife.” There were other times that made me think, “I need to go home and see my kids.” All-in-all a really good movie. Had some great effects in it. I haven’t read the story that it’s based on but it seems to be a little more upbeat than the synopsis that I did read.

I still cannot forget...
Now that the previews are out, I still cannot stop talking about seeing it again. People say that it looks so gross, the make up does a great job at delivering the hideous baby to the adorable young baby that he grows to be. Not 1 person that came out of my theater had a dry eye to them. I even cried for days..(ask anyone) I don't cry. My kids were very baffled at my moods. I felt like I was right there with Benjamin throughout his life. When my kids mature I would LOVE to have them watch to see how they react to it.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Brad Pitt does an incredible job as Benjamin Button, such a different role from Burn After Reading. Brad seems to have found his niche in this movie. The story is sad, but does not ask for your pity----Benjamin accepts his lot in life and tries to live with his shortcomings. A wonderful story showing that the bad guy is not the one who appears bad.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
I enjoyed Brad Pitt's performance, in fact, I was amazed. The movie was long, but due to the great acting and story line, this was a better movie than Australia.

pay an editor to do his job
well acted, well done movie, but not really "the best film of the year" as it is being touted, needed a good editor to tighten it up a bit
