the same director made Bottle Shock???
This is a competent "caper" flick worth seeing once, but it is overshadowed by the more stellar cinematic offerings of the season. It should have been released pre-awards contention season. There are many break-neck twists and turns of plot, with a hard R for graphic and implied violence. The all-star acting ensemble is relaxed and very even. Pay attention to Mary Steenburgen's Forensic Psychiatrist (wife of the Nobel Laureate lout) character's dialog if you don't want to get too lost. Rickman recalls Die Hard's Hans Gruber, if Hans had survived and graduated from prison with a PhD in Molecular Chemistry. Bill Pullman channels a more situationally ethical Columbo. The youngsters hold their own nicely with all of the acting stalwarts. But, no, this one does not live up to Bottle Shock. Once again, the screening theater was far from full and there were way too many left over giveaway movie posters. Some one goofed on the logistics Big Time.
